Even though he's achieved an insane amount of success at a young age, Bruno Mars says he'd give up music to have his late mom back.

This revelation came during an interview with Latina magazine, in which Mars talked about his parents and their influence on him growing up

He credits his mom Bernadette for giving him one of the greatest gifts in life, and spoke about how difficult things have been since she unexpectedly passed away from a brain aneurysm in 2013. "The woman who taught you to love, showed you what a woman is supposed to be; when that goes away, a little more than half your heart goes away with it. " Clearly her loss has deeply affected him, and he sees everything a little differently now.

"My life has changed. She's more than my music. If I could trade music to have her back, I would. I always hear her say, 'Keep going and keep doing it.'"

And that's making us feel for him so much, because losing a parent - especially one who was so influential - leaves a sadness that never quite goes away. But it seems like Mars has pushed through the pain, because his 24k Magic album is incredible - really, the best of Bruno.

And just when we thought we couldn't love Bruno any more, he continues to hold his mom close and recognizes what really matters at the end of the day.

"You just gotta know that she's with me everywhere I go. It's something that you can't imagine - the pain and the things that you keep going back to: 'I wish I would've done this or said this.' You just have to see life differently. It shows you the real importance of life. Nothing else matters in this world but family and your loved ones."

These are great lessons to remember: Family and friends are the most important things in life. So let's all go and hug the ones we hold near and dear, because there can never be enough of that.
