Back in 2014 Facebook acquired the virtual reality company named Oculus, and now we finally understand why.

Thanks to their partnership, we will all be able to upload and share 360 selfies on our Facebook newsfeed. 360 DEGREE SELFIES EVERYONE! Never let a good hair and makeup day go to waste ever again!

Oculus announced this exciting news yesterday on their blog stating, “You'll be able to take a panoramic photo from your phone or use a 360 camera, upload it to Facebook, and pan around by tilting your phone or dragging the image.”

Up until now 360 Facebook videos had only been available to those who owned a 360-degree camera, which is why big companies such as ABC, National Geographic, and sports teams were taking all of the dimensional thunder. But now the time has come for us to get in on the fun as well.

And it's simple really. Just take a panoramic photo as usual and then upload it to Facebook. Ta-da! Magic! And those of your friends who own VR headsets can download the Oculus 360 photo app to really “experience” photographs, while everyone else can move the image by simply touching and dragging the photo around.

The photos with the 360 option will feature a small icon on it, letting your friends know that this super awesome and immersive experience is available.

As Oculus put it, “Imagine standing in the middle of a colorful parade at the Rio Carnival, or letting family from far away feel like they're part of that special birthday gathering.” Um, yes. Sign me up Facebook, we're ready.
