The popular social network Facebook recently revealed that it works on programs and tools on its platform with which it tries to help reduce suicide rates among its users, especially young people.
May is the month dedicated to raising awareness about mental health and the network created by Mark Zuckerberg is increasing efforts to publicize all the prevention aids that Internet users can find on Facebook.
According to a statement shared with the media, for more than 10 years the digital giant has been committed to consolidating prevention campaigns, support groups and a message system to provide care to users who require it.
The Mama Dragons community is an example of how members can make use of social media to benefit the mental health of its participants. Through this group, mothers of young people from the LGBT community in the state of Utah share support and experiences.
The efforts of the network giant fall especially on Latinos in the United States, as recent studies show that Hispanic adolescents had the highest rate of suicide attempts in 2015.
How to find help:
Recently, Instagram also joined the initiative with the creation of a platform that can be found through the HereForYou hashtag or by visiting instagram-together.com.
There are also specialized groups and communities to provide help to users. Organizations like Crisis Text Line, National Eating Disorder Association and National Suicide Prevention Lifeline are ready to talk to people through Messenger at any time.
