Like the vast majority, Dr. Ana María Polo is following the government's orders to the letter in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, however, she is concerned about the future and, above all, about those who have lost their jobs.

The Cuban spoke exclusively with People en Español and shared her concerns on the subject and how she is living this stage.

What is Dr. Polo's life like now?

I am [fully] complying with the rules. I have social distance, sincerely I am fulfilling it to the letter with the exceptions of going to the supermarket [to] make the purchases that I need.

Isn't the Case Closed (Telemundo) program being recorded remotely?

No. I do my work over the phone, FaceTime, I have that facility and at the moment I am not recording absolutely anything. I prepare lunch, breakfast and lunch at home every day. I remember my mother when she went crazy and said "what do I do, what do I do". I am trying to be more physical, I stay active to expend energy.

I stay connected to the networks, this moment is critical and it is a blessing that we have the technology and the networks.

How do you see the world panorama in the face of this crisis?

I am very worried because it is not clear to me that being separated, how the virus will be eliminated is the part that is not clear to me and at what time. There are things that are not clear. I analyze the news and it is not clear to me how we are going to get out of this situation. The problem is that there is nothing definite, there is an uncertainty and we have to be more vigilant. Are we going to have to live in spaces like now? That causes me a lot of anxiety.

And most of the people need to work, they live on their pay month by month, week after week and that represents another crisis that is more serious than the coronavirus itself, how are we going to sustain ourselves?

Of the worst evils …

[But] we have to do what we are told, try to keep our minds healthy, calm, see the other side of life. Nature has [come] well for it. Things have been seen in the waters of Venice that we have not seen for years, we have to find the beautiful part of things. It is a good time for all of us to be Buddhists, to think about how we can be useful.
