David Cruz, who was a boyfriend of Jennifer López when they were just teenagers, died at the age of 51 last Saturday at Mount Sinai West Hospital in New York of heart disease.

According to the TMZ and Page Six portal, the New York City coroner confirmed the death, which he attributed to heart problems and ruled out that it had to do with the coronavirus.

Cruz and López were neighbors of the Bronx neighborhood and started dating when the interpreter of “El Anillo” was about 15 years old. Their relationship lasted for about a decade.

The two were seen together at public events when JLo was starting to gain fame. One of those events was a red carpet in 1995.

Isa, Cruz's partner, who she was with for 18 years, told TMZ that one of her favorite moments with her partner was family dinners and recalled that "she always made sure to end things with a: I love you."

"He was kind and loving. He never held on to anything and was always very open. He was a devoted father, he helped raise his stepson who is now in the Navy. He loved the Yankees and Knicks. He loved going to the theater with me." he said to the portal.

The Bronx Diva has yet to speak on her social media about the death of her former partner. They are considered to have ended on good terms and were friends.

JLo has been engaged to Alex Rodríguez since last year. The news was released when the former baseball player shared a photo on his Instagram account with his girlfriend's hand and a ring on his ring finger with the message "she said yes."
