After presenting symptoms of coronavirus since last March 9, the Mexican authorities confirm that a patient died at the National Institute of Respiratory Diseases (INER) in the Aztec capital. According to the official report, the 41-year-old man, in addition to being detected for carrying COVID-19, had diabetes. Thus, it becomes the first death from said virus.

"Today in Mexico the first person died with COVID-19," announced the Mexican Ministry of Health in his official Twitter account. “Her symptoms started on March 9 and she had diabetes. The Secretary of Health expresses his condolences to his relatives. Rest in peace".

The deceased's wife, who was identified as Adriana "N", announced that on March 3 her husband attended the concert of the band Ghost; which was presented at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City. She also reported that the death was carried out after a "systemic failure of all organs" of the patient.

“Since he entered [INER], the medical reports were very confusing; hospitals have absolutely nothing; we have to buy everything: medicines, surgical supplies; Many things are missing,”Adriana“N”explained to the Mexican newspaper Milenio. “They never taught me anything: no papers, no laboratory [tests], but they claimed that [the coronavirus] already had it; I was first treated like influenza pneumonia, nothing more.”

Although her husband underwent the corresponding test, her spouse has not had any tests to find out whether she has also been infected.

"They didn't [give him the COVID-19 test] because they told us that the test is reserved for people who have really serious problems," he warned. “I came twice and they didn't even stop me, nor did they take a small piece of anything; only quarantine."
