One of the officials who accompanied Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro to a meeting with US President Donald Trump five days ago in Florida tested positive for COVID-19.
This is the press secretary, Fabio Wajngarten, who participated in the private meeting with Trump and Vice President Mike Pence at the Mar-a-Lago complex, Florida, the Brazilian government confirmed on Thursday.
According to The New York Times, Wajngarten tested positive for two separate tests after returning home with flu symptoms.
The photo that circulates on all social networks in which the minister is seen together with the businessman Alvaro Garnero, Pence and Trump was released by the same Wajngarten through his Instagram account.
"I greet President Jair Bolsonaro for the incredible meeting with President Donald Trump," was part of the message he shared in one of his images.
Other personalities who were present at the meeting were Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, the Times reported.
Bolsonaro's office said in a press release that they were "taking all necessary preventive measures to preserve the health of the president and the delegation that accompanied him on the recent official trip to the United States."
The White House assured that neither Trump nor Pence had almost no contact with Wajngarten and therefore do not see the need to be tested.
