The actor moved the animals to the Farm Sanctuary ranch in Acton, CA, which provides care and protection for various types of farm animals.
The moment the actor leaves the slaughterhouse with the calf in his arms was shared through a video on YouTube, which also shows the actor's encounter with the cow and its offspring for the first time. The recording shared by the foundation explains that the rescue mission was not planned.
"I don't need any science to see with my own eyes and hear how animals respond to pain," said the actor to the slaughterhouse manager, Anthony Di Maria, with whom he met.
Di Maria assured the actor that the slaughterhouse never deprives cows of their young and that precisely a calf just born in the slaughterhouse was isolated with its mother. That calf is named Indigo”and it is precisely the calf that the actor saved.
“An animal perishes in less than 60 seconds. That is the most humane, the most humane work process in the world,”said Di María. "Every time a calf is born on my property, I refuse to take it from its mother."
