Television host Wendy Williams is in the eye of the hurricane after commenting on the scar on the face of actor Joaquín Phoenix, who was born with a cleft lip.
The 55-year-old American communicator referred to the physicist of the Joker's interpreter in her program The Wendy Williams Show dedicated to the Golden Globes and said she finds it "strangely attractive".
"When he shaves his mustache, he has that fissure. You have one of those, what do they call it? Cleft lip, cleft palate,”he said using his hand to lift his own lip. "I find it very attractive," he added.
After his controversial comment, the rains of criticism of the presenter did not wait. Fans of the actor and followers of the show have asked him to apologize. To which she has responded by making donations to two organizations that support children born with that birth defect.
"I want to apologize," he wrote on his Twitter account. "Our program donates to Smile Operations and the Amer Cleft Palate Association and encourage our public to learn more and help support this community."
