A woman was found guilty of beheading her ex-boyfriend's mother after an argument between the two in the city of Wichita, Kansas.
Rachael Hilyard, 37, was convicted of first-degree murder on Thursday after cutting off the head of Micki Davis, 63, with two steak knives.
According to reports published by People magazine, the tragedy occurred when Davis went to Hilyard's house accompanied by his 9-year-old grandson to retrieve some of his son's belongings, Jeremy Rush, Hilyard's ex-prisoner. at that moment.
Reports indicate that during the visit, the two began to argue fiercely over a painting. Alarmed, the 9-year-old ran to the next house where a neighbor called 911 to report what was happening.
"The police came to find Davis dead: they took his head off his neck," police reported to the magazine.
Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett explained to the Daily Mail that Hilyard used two knives because the first one broke his knife and had to use another "to finish what he started." Prosecutors said police found Davis' body in the garage of Hilyard's home and his head in the kitchen sink.
A day before she was convicted, Hilyard revealed in the middle of court that before committing the crime, she had heard voices in her head ordering her to kill Davis.
According to local media, Hilyard's conviction will be handed down on March 27 and could face life in prison for the crime that occurred in April 2017 and has shocked Kansas residents.
