An eleven-year-old boy, named José Ángel, opened fire at Colegio Cervantes de Torreón, SC, located in Coahuila, Mexico. According to local authorities, the incident occurred at 8:35 in the morning when the boy asked for permission to go to the bathroom; Due to the boy's delay, his teacher, María Assaf Medina, went to look for him and discovered that the boy had changed his uniform for black pants with suspenders and a white shirt.

In addition, the boy was carrying two firearms, one 22 caliber and one 40 caliber, which began to fire on the teacher, who died, and her classmates, who were very close to the toilet.

According to the mayor of that state, Jorge Zermeño, the little boy committed suicide after launching the shots. It is also mentioned that there are six wounded, five minors and one adult, who are being treated at the Spanish Sanatorium in that town and, for the moment, they are reported stable.

It is unknown how the attacker had access to these weapons and how he managed to get them into school.

"We are already investigating, but even the child's father does not know how he had access to the weapon," Maurilio Ochoa, a delegate from the state attorney's office to the media commented.

For his part, Miguel Ángel Riquelme, governor of Coahuila, reported that the minor, who was in sixth grade, was influenced by a video game called "Natural selection"; There was even a reference to that game on the back of the shirt he was wearing. He added that, according to some witnesses, moments before the shooting the minor commented "today is going to be the day."

The president expressed that, a long time ago, José Ángel had suffered the death of his mother; therefore, he lived with his grandparents.

"He had no problems, he had good behavior," Riquelme told the media. "[He had] very good grades."

The latest reports indicate that, on several occasions, the boy showed his friends the shooting at Sandy Hook High School in the United States and claimed to be a fan of that event.
