A shooting that occurred this morning at a college of higher learning at a school near Houston, Texas and left 10 dead and 22 people hospitalized.

The victims, nine of them students and a teacher, died at the hands of a 17-year-old boy who carried out his attack in the vicinity of Santa Fe Highschool.

At 9:41 am local time, spokespersons for the Santa Fe School District reported via Twitter that an incident was occurring at the school. "The district has begun the high school lockdown process," he told himself. Later it was confirmed that there were already fatalities.

The alleged perpetrator of the shooting has been identified as student Dimitrios Pagourtzis, 17, as confirmed by Santa Fe School District Police Chief Walter Braun.

Pagourtzis was armed with a shotgun and a.38-caliber revolver, according to Texas Governor Gregg Abbott, at least one of the weapons belonged to the suspect's father. Pagourtzis was injured in the incident and although he planned to kill himself, according to CNN reports, he managed to be captured.

In images that are sadly familiar to the world, it was seen how the students of the campus were evacuated from it, while stretchers entered the school and policemen guarded the place.

Later, local and school authorities reported that homemade explosives were found on the campus, apparently assembled by the suspect.

From his office in the East Room of the White House, President Donald Trump reacted to the shooting. "Unfortunately I have to start [the day] expressing our sadness and regret at the deadly shooting at the Santa Fe high school," said the 71-year-old president. “This has happened for too long in our country. Too many years, too many decades. " We regret the terrible loss of life, "Trump continued," and we will send our support to all those affected by this absolutely horrifying attack.
