School shootings continue to claim victims.

The 16-year-old girl who was injured in the shooting this week at Great Mills High School in Maryland was disconnected from the life support medical team on Thursday night, her family confirmed.

Jaelynn Willey was shot in the head, causing brain death, according to her mother, Melissa Willey.

"As of now, Jaelynn is still on life support, but she won't make it," Willey told USA Today on Thursday. “Tonight we will remove it from life support. She [is] no longer alive.”

Jaelynn was shot at around 7:45 am Tuesday, just as the school day was beginning. The 14-year-old Desmond Barnes, who was also shot, was later released from the hospital.

Willey had been in critical condition at the Prince George's Hospital Center at the University of Maryland. The young woman was one of nine siblings and was active on the swim team at her school.

"My daughter was hurt by a boy who shot her in the head and took all of our lives," said Melissa Willey.

The suspect was identified as Wyatt Rollins, 17, a student at the same school.

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office said Rollins and Jaelynn Willey had a relationship that had recently ended.
