8-year-old Girl Who Was Kidnapped Is Rescued By The Police

Emotional images have been shared of the rescue of an 8-year-old girl from a hotel room in Texas where she was kidnapped by a 51-year-old man. A group of police officers found the little girl hidden in a laundry basket inside the WoodSprings Suits hotel room. Kidnapper Michael Webb ran out naked after officers broke the door to enter and was promptly arrested. Police found blood on the bed in the room, but reportedly found the girl safe. One of the officers covered her with a towel and dragged her out of the room.

Fort Worth Police spokesman Buddy Calzada revealed to PEOPLE that the girl had been abducted on May 18 while walking with her mother through a neighborhood in Fort Worth. The man, who was driving down that street, forced her into the car. Although the mother tried to get into the car and get the girl out, the man threw her into the street and left with the little girl.

The woman reported the kidnapping and shortly afterward Jeff King, a family friend, found Webb's car parked at the WoodSpring Suites hotel. Officers then inspected the vehicle and found blood on the passenger seat. The rescue occurred on May 19 at 2:20 am The girl was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital and then reunited with her family.

Webb was sentenced to spend the rest of his days in federal prison. The man confessed to the FBI that he had kidnapped the girl and taken her to a church parking lot and then to the hotel room where she was rescued.
