In a way never seen before, a group of British MPs came together to defend Meghan Markle from tabloid attacks "with colonial overtones," according to an open letter released by MPs.
They accuse the tabloid media of spreading a damaging and false image of the Duchess of Sussex. It is shocking that headlines have been given as unpleasant and out of place as one that appeared in the Daily Mail: "From cotton slaves to royalty." Something that would seem unthinkable that could happen in the 21st century and that lacks all ethics.
Meghan Markle, the American actress of white dad and mom of color, recently confessed in a documentary that she knew that the tabloids would attack her without mercy, even her friends had warned her that they would destroy her. But surely I can't imagine what limits defamation and harassment would reach.
With a heartbreaking letter remembering the late Lady Di, Prince Harry decided a few weeks ago to take legal action against the tabloids. "They won't force me to play the game that killed my mother," said Meghan's husband. "There comes a time when all you can do is deal with these behaviors, because they destroy people and destroy lives."
Undoubtedly, the recent documentary about the couple that has made rivers of ink flow, is having a very favorable result for the Dukes of Sussex despite the criticism. The public is on their side.
According to one of the parliamentarians erected in his defense, Meghan Markle herself telephoned him.
