The last time the little brothers Maverick and Orion Ransom were heard from was three weeks ago, when their father Clarence Michael Ransom picked them up from daycare in Las Cruces, NM
Since then his whereabouts and that of his father, who the police describe as an unregistered sex offender, are unknown. It is suspected that Ransom that same day crossed the border with Mexico through Ciudad Juárez and returned the following day to US territory, but it is not known if the children were with him, according to police.
In this situation, the Las Cruces police requested through Facebook the citizen collaboration to locate Mavericks, 3, and Orion, 4.
Authorities said Ransom shares custody of the children with his wife, from whom he lives separately. When he went to look for them at the nursery on October 8, he did not indicate that they were going to be taken anywhere.
Consequently, an arrest warrant has been issued against the 52-year-old man for failing to register as a sex offender and breaching a custody agreement. For now, authorities do not consider the father to be a danger to his children, which is why an Amber alert has not been declared.
“The father is not a danger and is not believed to cause physical harm. He also has parental rights, Las Cruces police spokesman Dan Trujillo told Las Cruces Sun-News newspaper.
