A lawsuit between sisters in the middle of a binge last June has plunged a Hispanic family from New Jersey into tragedy, after one of them died in the altercation and the other faced a long prison sentence after pleading guilty Thursday of kill him.
Amanda Ramírez, 27, faces up to 10 years in prison after admitting that she brutally stabbed her twin, Anna Ramírez, killing her. In exchange for the admission negotiated with the prosecution, the guilty plea only includes a reduced charge of second-degree manslaughter.
According to People, the judge will notify Ramírez on November 15 of the sentence that will be imposed, which can be up to a decade of deprivation of liberty.
The girls' devastated mother, Ivelisse Class, assured People that their daughters had a very close relationship, that they acted as if they were a team, doing everything together.
"They loved each other," the mother said in July. "They leaned when they gave birth. They took the children out for a walk together. They took each other to work. They were a team.”
The mother assured that it was impossible for her to overcome the death of her daughter. "When you lose a child, you don't sleep," he said. "You just want this to be a nightmare you can wake up from."
The bloody altercation occurred on June 22. According to New Jersey police, his agents responded to a call about an incident at the Camden city apartment around 5:30 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found Anna with her left side of her chest covered in blood from a stab wound. the young woman was transferred to a nearby hospital, where her death was certified an hour later.
According to the police report, Anna started the altercation with her sister, whom she hit in the face. Amanda defended herself. Then, according to her version given to the police, her sister entered the house and returned with a knife.
"Amanda Ramírez stated that she struggled with her sister to take control of the knife, but in the end she stabbed her sister in the chest," reads the report.
Hours before the fight, Anna had posted a photo on Facebook with her sister in which she appeared smiling with several friends.
