Expectation grows with the premiere of the series El secreto de Selena (Telemundo), based on the book titled in the same way, published by journalist María Celeste Arrarás in 1997, just two years after the death of singer Selena Quintanilla.
The miniseries, which will debut this Sunday on Telemundo, tells in detail what happened after the murder of the Queen of Tex Mex and in the legal process to which the author of the crime, Yolanda Saldivar, was subjected.
“This is a miniseries that is intriguing, action, but nothing is made up. Everything is backed by several sources, evidence and all I get there reflected is part of my research, said Arrarás to Carolina Trejos during his interview with People VIP.
The host of Al Rojo Vivo (Telemundo) stressed, contrary to what had been speculated previously, this production is not based on the version of the convicted murderer. It is the result of the investigation and the facts that Arrarás discovered in her search for the truth.
"I had to read thousands and thousands of court documents, police reports, eyewitness testimony. I spoke to them in person. I spoke with detectives, with the lawyers of the convicted murderer, I spoke with the prosecutor, with those close to Selena, I spoke with the murderer, "says María Celeste. "This is not the murderer's version or anything like that."
The Puerto Rican journalist hopes to respect the memory of the iconic Mexican-American interpreter and shed a positive light on a tragedy.
Selena's Secret premieres this Sunday, August 25 at 10 a.m. EST on Telemundo. Do not miss it!
