Police find a baby alive with her dead parents and search for answers. The bodies of Jessica Bramer, 26, of Grand Rapids, and Christian Reed, 28, were found by Michigan police at a motel. Her 6-month-old baby was found to be showing signs of severe dehydration but alive after spending several days alone with her parents dead, authorities said.

On Friday around noon a policeman was called to inspect a room at the Rodeway Inn motel in Whitehall, where they found the dead young men with their baby still alive. The little girl, whose name is Skylah, was rushed to the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids. The little girl was in critical condition but is expected to make a full recovery, according to a police statement obtained by PEOPLE.

As WOOD-TV reported, authorities found drug paraphernalia next to the parents' bodies. An autopsy was performed but the cause of death of the couple has not yet been revealed. The results of the toxicology tests will take at least 30 days, according to police. So far the incident is not being investigated as a homicide, the local channel reported.

Relatives of the couple informed WOOD TV that Jessica and Christian had been in jail multiple times and were staying at the motel for about a week before their death. In January, Skylah's grandparents called Child Protective Services to report that they feared for the baby's safety and well-being. Who will have custody of the child has not yet been revealed.
