Heidi and her baby were last seen together when the woman dropped off her oldest son, 6, at school on Thursday. Heidi's fiancé, Shane Carey, reported her missing. Shane told KTBC that not knowing where her fiancee and baby were "was the worst feeling in the world" and said that the circumstances of their disappearance were "rare".

"Not knowing what to do is the hardest part," he confessed. "I don't know where she is, I don't know if she's suffering. I wish I could do more.” According to Shane, he spoke to his fiancee that morning at 8 a.m. and when he arrived at his house at 2 p.m. after work, he found Heidi's car in the parking lot of the house and her wallet inside. Upon entering the house, he found his baby's car seat and Heidi's keys, and didn't think there was anything suspicious at first, imagining that he was at the home of a friend who lived nearby. However, she began to worry when, after several hours, Heidi did not answer her cell phone. He called all of her friends, who didn't know anything about her either, and then decided to call 911 for help with their search.
