Lawrence Police, in Massachusetts, detained a 47-year-old Carlos Rivera Jr. this Saturday after the mysterious death of Chloe Ricard, a 13-year-old teenager who was allegedly left dying outside an emergency room on last Monday.

Rivera was detained this Saturday at his home and faces two charges for distribution of narcotics to a minor, two charges for indecent assault and for beating a 14-year-old minor. He is also facing an assault charge and hitting a 14-year-old minor, according to a statement issued by the Essex County District Attorney's office.

The mystery surrounded the death of the young woman since May 20 when, around 4:47 pm local time, her body was thrown by unknown persons at the doors of Lawrence General Hospital. The deceased was later identified as Chloe Ricard, a resident of Amesbury, as confirmed by the Boston Globe newspaper.

The teenager and her two brothers had been orphaned by their father 5 years ago and Chloe "began to mix with the wrong people," Deborah Goldsmith-Dolan, mother of the victim, told the aforementioned newspaper after her death was known.

Detectives determined that Ricard and another 16-year-old teenager, whose identity was not disclosed, spent "much of Sunday" and early morning in the subject's apartment, located at 59 Bellevue Street. The following day, for reasons that are still unknown, Rivera took Ricard to the aforementioned emergency room, leaving her at the gates. According to multiple sources, the teenager had used cocaine.

Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett has not disclosed how Ricard was transported to the hospital or whether the defendant knew the victim, however multiple sources reveal that the girl and Rivera appear to have known each other previously.

For his part, Brian Dolan, the victim's stepfather revealed that it was the doctors from the emergency unit who revealed that his stepdaughter was dead when he arrived at the site.

"Who could abandon her like this?" Lamented the young girl's mother. "Yes, she had her problems, of course," accepted the grieving woman. “[But] she was just a beautiful, kind girl. Everyone who knew her loved her, she was very sociable”.

This Monday Rivera appeared in the Lawrence District Court where Judge Lynn Rooney ruled that he must remain locked up without bail due to his dangerousness until his next hearing that will take place on June 4.
