Rosa Alcides Rivera, a 28-year-old Hispanic mother, faces charges of first-degree murder after she stabbed her 11-year-old daughter to death last Saturday and then took her body to a hospital for help.

The horrifying crime occurred in Orlando, Florida at the victim's home, located at 5700 Citadel Drive. The woman arrived at her home around 7:30 a.m. and started knocking on the door, accusing a man inside of having sex with his daughter, Aleyda, police sources confirmed to the local WKMG station.

Witnesses said that the girl denied the accusations of her mother, who based her suspicions on the fact that the minor "was smiling differently." Later mother and daughter got into a car where the woman seized a knife and stabbed the girl on at least 15 occasions, according to the experts.

"My baby is gone," the woman exclaimed, taking her daughter to the Winnie Palmer hospital in Orlando, according to reports by paramedics who received the child. Despite desperate attempts to save the girl, she died.

Alcides Rivera was detained by hospital security personnel when she threatened those present with a bloody knife. When she was apprehended, it was discovered that both wrists had been cut and she was also admitted, although her injuries were not serious.

"These kinds of cases are horrible and tragic," said John Mina, sheriff of Orange County, at a press conference on Monday. "And then knowing that the girl was murdered by her own mother, basically a mother is the first line of defense in this world that is sometimes cruel, it is very hard for all of us." The sheriff took the opportunity to invite the population to report any case of domestic violence.

Police are now investigating whether the victim was sexually abused in life. For her part, the suspect was discharged and transferred to the Orange County Jail where she remains in custody of the authorities and without bail.
