A 47-year-old woman and her 3-year-old son were savagely attacked by a gang of 3 pit bull dogs in the town of Vallejo, California. The attack was so violent that the woman even lost a piece of her ear.
The events occurred on Saturday, April 6, when the woman apparently agreed to take care of the pets. Towards 5:32 pm local time, the police responded to a call made by neighbors to immediately come to the aid of a woman and her son who were being attacked in the garden of a house located in the 500 block of Locust. Drive. When the police arrived they found them in the midst of the fierce attack and immediately set about removing the beasts using pepper spray and physical force.
"[She] was missing part of her left ear," said Steve Hutcherson, of the ABC News 7 affiliate in the Bay area. The man, who is a neighbor of the house where the attack occurred, assured the newspaper that he took a golf club to try to distract the dogs. "I kept banging on the garbage can so I could distract them from the two of them."
It was then that his wife, Doris Hutcherson called the police. "By the time they arrived, the dogs had dragged [the mother] to the other side of the fence," the woman explained. "It seemed like [the dogs] were trying to rip their baby off. And it seemed like she was trying to protect him with her body."
Both victims - whose names have not yet been revealed - were immediately transferred to the hospital by paramedics from the city of Vallejo, as confirmed by said source.
Pitbull terrier dogs reportedly weighed between 40 and 50 pounds at home. The animals were checked until Solano County Animal Protection Service personnel arrived at the scene to remove them. They were later quarantined in a fenced shelter in Fairfield, People confirms.
