With the high temperatures plaguing the Eastern United States, acts of goodwill arrived. And a Samaritan woman sympathized with the homeless people who had to face the freezing temperatures in Chicago.

A woman who has so far remained anonymous touched her heart and paid for 70 hotel rooms after learning that a camp where homeless people sleep had to be evacuated due to a fire, CNN reported..

According to reports, the area where the incident occurred housed dozens of camping houses, tents and makeshift dwellings with blankets, many of which used propane gas tanks that had been donated by local people, so that people without home will withstand high temperatures, according to the Chicago Tribune newspaper. But on Wednesday, one of the tanks placed near a heater exploded causing the fire.

The authorities assured that there were no injuries, however, they had to evacuate the area and remove all the propane tanks to avoid more accidents.

"There was a significant amount of propane there and with so many cylinders, it was like a bomb waiting to explode," fire chief Walter Schroeder told the newspaper.

Authorities had coordinated moving the needy to a Salvation Army relief center, when the anonymous donor offered to pay for rooms in the southern area of the city, for those who would be displaced. The good Samaritan woman paid for the rooms for the rest of the week.

"Isn't it beautiful?" Jacqueline Rachev, a spokeswoman for the Salvation Army, told the newspaper. "At least they will be warm and safe."

During this week, temperatures in that area reached 50 degrees below zero.
