A 33-year-old woman faces serious criminal charges in New Jersey after her 13-month-old baby died allegedly crushed by her mother when she was on heroin.
Antoinette King, a resident of the town of Lumberton, faces a second-degree charge for endangering the welfare of a minor by the death of her son.
The events occurred this Sunday when the police answered the call of the mother of the suspect who had found her unconscious daughter in her home, as confirmed by People.
When the authorities arrived at the site, the woman was unconscious and her body was on top of the baby who in life responded to the name of Jeremiah.
They immediately tried to revive her with the special drug Narcan while giving the baby first aid, however the minor did not revive.
The boy was rushed to Virtua Memorial Hospital where he was presumed dead. His autopsy was performed this Monday but the results are still pending publication. However, it is believed that he died suffocated under the weight of his mother.
"Her mom is just beside herself," Chandra Williams, the victim's neighbor, told KYW-TV station, speaking about the state of the baby's grandmother, who lived at the scene.
