The coronavirus that plagues mankind appears to have been fierce to a New Jersey family that has taken four of its members and infected three more, so far. This was revealed by a member of the family to publicize the tragedy, which apparently was spread at a dinner.

"My mom is one of eleven [brothers]. On Thursday I went to bed having 10 aunts and uncles! When I woke up I discovered that I was only nine. A couple of minutes ago I found out that now I only have eight," regretted in a Facebook post Gabby Cartagena, resident in the town of Howell.

In her next post, Cartagena revealed that her grandmother had also succumbed to respiratory illness. "Now my nanny too! I'm so glad I kissed her on Sunday and put her on her bed. I will miss you forever!"

The victims are Grace Fusco, 73, who died after being diagnosed. Her children, Carmine and Rita Fusco-Jackson, both in their fifties, passed away before she did, the latter was diagnosed until after she died. This Thursday his brother Vincent Jr. also passed away.

The infectious focus appears to have originated from a family dinner held earlier this month, The New York Times explains. All of the relatives who contracted COVID-19 were hospitalized in New Jersey, except for Carmine, who was admitted to Pennsylvania.

"It is an unbearable tragedy," exclaimed Paradiso Fodera, the cousin of the late elderly woman, who explained to CNN that they are awaiting the results of the virus test from 19 other members of the family.

The tests were carried out on Saturday and until Thursday they had not been revealed to patients. "Why don't the relatives of those who are hospitalized receive the test results? This is a public health crisis," the woman lashed helplessly.

At the time of writing, the COVID-19 virus had already infected more than 15,000 people and killed 201 infected. In New Jersey, 742 were reported to be infected so far, according to figures from the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
