Gigi Wu, better known as "the mountain climber in a bikini", had a tragic death that has moved many. The 36-year-old Taiwanese woman appears to have frozen to death after accidentally falling from a mountain peak. Gigi became famous by sharing photos of herself in a bikini climbing mountains around the world. The young woman had started a new adventure in which she would be climbing for 25 days. However, she had an accident that killed her when she fell 65 feet down a mountain crack in Taiwan's Yushan National Park, Taiwan News reported.

The mountaineer suffered a serious leg injury and was unable to move. Although she tried numerous times to ask for help, rescuers were unable to reach her in time to save her because the weather conditions were very dangerous. Almost 28 hours after her fall, Gigi was airlifted but was pronounced dead, Liberty News reports. It is suspected that she died of hypothermia.

The young woman had a loyal following on social media who enjoyed photos of her travels and how she documented her experiences on mountain tops. Her zest for life and an exploratory spirit made her a celebrity on the Internet. Her last Facebook post was last Thursday. Wu shared a photo of himself with a beautiful view from a mountain peak with the message: "Celebrating today."
