A 2-year-old boy has been trapped in a 360-foot hole for more than three days and has brought attention to the world, and the rescue mission continues after three days of the incident.

According to AP reports, little Julen Roselló went out with his parents for a picnic on Sunday in Totalán, on the southern coast of Spain, when he slipped into a well after leaving the couple.

The boy's cry is heard until he fell 30 feet down the well, which is reportedly only 15 inches at its widest place, according to the Washington Post. Since then, all rescuers and the child's parents have heard of the well is silence.

"My wife is broken," Jose Roselló told reporters on Wednesday, according to NBC News. "We are dead inside. But we hope to have an angel to get my son out of there."

More than 100 firefighters and emergency workers have been searching for the boy since Sunday. But the hole is too narrow for any adult to enter.

Rescuers sent a robotic camera to the well on Monday, but it was even too big for the hole.

However, the device detected the sweets the boy had been carrying, NBC reported. The hair found in the soil extracted from the well matches the child's DNA, government official María Gálvez told reporters on Wednesday.

Although the rescue mission has been extended to three days, Julen's parents have not given up hope that they will find him alive.

"It looks like we have been waiting for months," Jose told reporters Wednesday, according to the AP. "We are not going to give up."

A mine rescue team has been dispatched to aid in the recovery, NBC reported, and officials have asked for help from the Swedish firm that helped in 2010 rescue 33 Chilean miners who had been trapped underground for months, according to NBC. Specialists hope to reach the deepest part of the well by Friday.

Several Spanish media outlets have reported that Julen's parents suffered the loss of another son, 3-year-old Oliver, in 2017. The boy died as a result of a heart problem, according to the AP.
