Caroline Bradner, a 22-year-old teacher from Virginia who traveled to Thailand and was paralyzed after contracting a rare disease, will now return to the United States. Two weeks ago, the young woman began experiencing symptoms of a condition that left her paralyzed just before Christmas. The family created a GoFundMe account to raise funds to transport Caroline back home and cover her medical expenses.

On December 22, Caroline - who moved to Thailand in October to teach English - realized that she couldn't move her body when she woke up. The young woman was taken to a local hospital by a friend and was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome, a rare autoimmune disease that attacks nerves, causing symptoms such as muscle weakness and paralysis.

Her relatives in Virginia desperately searched for the funds to pay for a stretcher flight for Caroline and were able to raise some money for the prospect, "her father Jim Bradner told ABC 8." She says the people there are amazing, they are always happy.. I think she wants to live like this. She has a very positive attitude."
