A couple died on the way to their wedding in a spectacular car accident. NJ residents Kate Schurtz and Joseph Kearney were driving to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to attend their wedding when they were struck by a tractor trailer. The accident, which occurred on Berks County Interstate 79, involved multiple vehicles. The couple's car caught fire, according to WNBC reports.
"Our nephew Joseph Kearney and his beautiful fiancee, Kate Schurtz, died in a car accident on the way home to celebrate their wedding that day," wrote a relative, Mary Heinle, on Facebook. “Our memories will help us get through this. Both were two bright lights that went out too soon."
Kearney hails from Pittsburgh while Schurtz grew up in New Jersey. "She will be remembered for her voracious hunger for reading, her love for cooking, and her breakthrough adventures with Joseph," says her obituary.
Laura Allio, another person close to the girlfriend, wrote on Facebook about Schurtz: “I only have good memories of her. Never forget how fragile life is. Her family was going to celebrate her wedding, not the deaths of her and her fiancé this weekend.”
The tragedy occurred just weeks after a newly married couple in Texas , Will Byler and Bailee Ackerman Byler, died in a helicopter shortly after taking off from their wedding. May they rest in peace.
