A 53-year-old woman survived for 6 days in the Arizona desert eating grass after suffering a serious car accident that left her trapped inside her vehicle.

The survivor was rescued by a rancher and road workers who were chasing an escaped cow.

The accident occurred on October 12 when the woman was driving on the Wickenburg highway and lost control of her car, spokespersons for the Arizona Department of Public Safety Office revealed to People.

The car collided with a guard on the road and fell 50 feet down the slope to be suspended from a mesquite and with the woman inside.

"He was suspended above the ground," explains a police report where he claims that the woman remained in the car for days until she could take enough strength to get out. He wanted to walk to nearby train tracks and ask for help, but he couldn't. "He never did it because his physical condition was really weak," he said in a statement.

On October 18 Dave Moralez, a rancher from the area who was looking for his cow, and Zach Moralex and Josh Miller, who worked in the area doing work for the Arizona Department of Transportation, found the woman's wrecked car.

Accompanied by state police Caleb Heigel, they followed footprints towards the river, where they found the woman dehydrated, with swollen eyes, several broken ribs, a dislocated shoulder and a head injury.

Additional information on this case adds that the woman was immediately transferred by helicopter to a local hospital where she was discharged after her recovery.
