More than a year after he was fired from Despierta América, William Valdés recounts for the first time the reasons why he believes he stopped working on the popular Univision morning show. "I fell into the world of partying, I fell into the world of drugs," the Cuban presenter acknowledges exclusively to People en Español, who assures that those responsible for the program had already given him two notices before he was fired. “I abused substances and that made my career go to the boat. I lost my dream job. He went out every night. I used to spend a lot of things that I shouldn't have bought”.
The 24-year-old Cuban, who after leaving Univision was long months without work, acknowledges that he was responsible for his misfortune and remembers the night that the drop apparently filled the glass for his bosses. "I was the one to blame, I started hanging out with people not good for me. The reason why I am voted for Univisión is because they invite me to Shakira's party and [I took] too many and I did not get [to work the next day]”, she recalls. "A month later I was fired from the company and my life totally changed."
After overcoming his personal problems, Valdés assures that he is already recovered and today he has resumed his career in Los Angeles as host of the program Good morning family (Estrella TV). "I am very pleased that I was given the opportunity to be one of the hosts of the show."
He also highlights that he wants to take advantage of his experience to prevent other young people from falling into the same well where he found himself after leaving Univision through the back door. "I don't want people to do that like me, that I lost a job that had a dream," he says. "I am to blame for being kicked out of Univision, I gave them the reason, I gave them the reason for them to say 'William out.' I am to blame for everything. What I am thankful for from this is that I have learned a lot and learned that it does not take you anywhere, no matter the fame and money, it does not take you anywhere."
