Seeing himself helpless, instead of asking for alms, David Casarez distributed his resume on the street and received hundreds of job offers. The photo of Casarez dressed in a neck and tie holding a sign that said “I have no home, but I am hungry for success. Take a resume”went viral. The young man stopped on a street in Mountain View, California, in the exclusive area known as 'Silicon Valley' where companies like Google, Netflix and Apple have their headquarters.
Casarez is a computer engineer and graduated from Texas A&M University, according to his resume. A Twitter user, @ jaysc0, identified as Jasmine Scofield, shared on Twitter about Casarez: “We talked for about an hour. She came to Silicon Valley with the dream of being successful in [the technology industry] and has a lot to offer the community. He's sleeping in parks and trying to do freelance jobs, interviews, and [job] applications.”
The 26-year-old professional told NBC Bay Area that he had moved to Silicon Valley with the dream of one day having his own business and that he had slept in his van until he could no longer pay for the vehicle in June. "All I wanted was for a person to notice, take my resume and give me a chance," he told the channel.
His wish was fulfilled and countless people responded to messages on Twitter about the computer engineer. Casarez told The New York Post that he had received more than 200 job offers. Will you accept any? We wish him the fulfillment of his dreams and that his inspiring story has a happy ending.
