Florida police officer Tony Carlson never imagined that a gesture of kindness from him to a homeless man who needed help would make him a social media celebrity.
In a video that was posted on Facebook, the public servant can be seen shaving a man who has been identified as Phil with an electric razor. The video has managed to exceed 200,000 views since it was published last Sunday, and the story behind the images has stolen the hearts of Internet users.
As reported by CNN on his online site, Phil needed to remove his beard, since on Monday he had to report to a fast food chain where he had been promised a job and for which he was asked to clean his face a bit..
Officer Carlson realized that Phil was having trouble with his machine so he did not hesitate to offer his help. "He asked me if I knew how to fix a razor… I looked at her and noticed she was missing one screw. Obviously she didn't have another screw with me, so I tightened the other one to a point that worked."
In the absence of a mirror so Phil could see himself and shave, the Florida police member had no problem acting as a barber and left the man ready for his new job.
After the beautiful story was made known to the public, Officer Carlson himself emphasized that this type of assistance to members of his community often happens. "It is not something spectacular … it happens all the time.
