A child who was left at a friend's house to sleep or make a sleepover call near Wilmington, Delaware, found an entire family dead, People reports.

People report that the Washington Post reports that the boy discovered the bodies of Matthew Edwards, 42, and his wife, Julie Edwards, 41, along with the couple's children, whose ages are 6, 4, and 3 years old. The children received fatal injuries.

Before the macabre discovery, the police appeared at the residence. Upon arrival at the crime scene, officers determined that Matthew Edwards' gunshot wound was self-inflicted, carried out by himself. People confirmed that the case is being treated as murder and suicide.

People report that a neighbor told CBS News that Matthew and Julie seemed like a typical couple who recently had certain problems in their relationship. "He seemed like an average man," Wilfredo Rivera told CBS. "He could go outside [of the house] with the kids and play … but he told me he was having marital problems," he said.

Information indicates that Matthew had recently moved out of the house and relocated to North Carolina, where he had found a job.

People report that the couple's oldest child, 6, suffered from Williams Syndrome, a developmental disorder. So, the child's mother, Julie, becomes involved with the Williams Syndrome Association, as the association's regional director. She had even coordinated a conference in Baltimore this week. However, the police indicated that they did not reach the onference. Matthew shot and killed the entire family.
