United Airlines (UAL) will fly 1,000 high school students from diverse US backgrounds for a travel experience in a developing country. As part of United's ongoing efforts to break down barriers, students will be helped to gain perspective and build authentic connections between cultural, racial, economic and social differences.

At the end of this summer travel season, United and Global Glimpse will reach 70 high schools in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, western Massachusetts and six preparatory organizations to serve 1,000 low-income students. While abroad, students will have a powerful international experience where they will immerse themselves in a new culture, live and work alongside local residents and serve the community. In addition, through the Global Glimpse program, students will participate in cultural seminars, meet with local entrepreneurs and community leaders, give private lessons in English to local youth, and develop community action projects in partnership with local organizations.

"At United, we have this unique opportunity to connect these students to the world," said Sharon Grant, vice president of community affairs for United Airlines. "It is exciting to share this journey with them, a journey that we hope will give them a new perspective on their lives and dramatically expand their views of the world."
