Attendees of an amusement park on a Daytona Beach pier experienced moments of terror Thursday when they saw a roller coaster derail with ten people on board. Two of them fell 34 feet tall and six were rushed to the hospital.

According to Fox 35, firefighters received a call about the roller coaster accident at 8:31 pm

The Daytona Beach Fire Department shared details of the incident on its Twitter page.

"A total of 10 people were rescued from the trip," the department tweeted. The entity also shared a video of firefighters rescuing those caught on the roller coaster.

So far the severity of the wounds of those affected is unknown.

The middle car, which contained four more people, was partially derailed, while the rear car, which contained two others, remained on the runway, the fire department said. All those involved were held in place by seat belts, the department said.

The Daytona Beach Fire Department added that they did not know what caused the car to malfunction and derail.

The Daytona incident is another that causes controversy over the safety of roller coasters.

In May 2017, eight people were trapped on a 120-foot-tall roller coaster at Six Flags in Arlington, Texas.

In the car of the device were several teenagers who waited for three hours to be rescued.

Christian Chaney, a high school student from Durant who was traveling with a friend at the time, told KTBS that the first thing they thought of was praying. "My friend and I thought we were going to die, just because there was lightning, and we didn't think anyone knew we were there," he said.
