Clara Harris Is Released From Jail 15 Years After Killing Her Husband

Infidelity was the trigger for the jealousy of Clara Harris, the Colombian woman who in 2002 ran over her husband causing her death. A case that scandalized the world and that occupied pages in the press both in Colombia and the rest of the countries. Well, this Friday, the condemned woman made news again when she recovered her freedom after spending fifteen years in prison.

His life before the tragedy seemed almost perfect. Both successful dentists were a wealthy and supposedly happy couple. But she began to have suspicions of a possible adventure of her husband and decided to hire the services of a private detective to confirm them.

That's how it went. Upon learning of the news, she did not think twice and picked up her 16-year-old stepdaughter to go to her husband and lover's love nest. Once at the Houston hotel where they had their meetings, the desperate woman assaulted both of them with violence both physically and verbally.

When she returned to the car, she hit her then-husband no less than three times, leaving him very badly injured on the ground. Still, she was able to get out of the car and ask how he was, according to the newspaper El Nuevo Herald. However, the victim, David Harris, was unable to overcome these blows and died.

During her hearing at the trial, the killer confessed that it was only an accident and that "it was like a dream." A dream that ended in a nightmare and that took away her freedom for 15 years. Nobody could foreshadow this future for Bogota, who in her youth achieved the title of Miss Colombia Houston. At 62 she regains her freedom although it is not yet known whether she will enjoy it here or in her country of origin.
