A Child Dies Inside A Clothes Dryer

A 10-year-old boy was found dead inside a clothes dryer in a laundry room in Houston, Texas. Fernando Hernández was playing hide and seek in an apartment complex with other children when the tragedy occurred last Friday. The medical examiner determined that the minor was electrocuted and that his death was an accident.

According to the police report, Fernando was playing with his younger brother and other children and hid in a dryer. The minors were also playing with toy guns but it was not yet reported if they contained water.

Christina Rodríguez, the boy's mother, told KTRK that her youngest son was the one who warned her of the tragedy. "I don't know what happened. I was inside cooking and my little boy came and told me that my son was dead on the floor, "he said. “My boyfriend picked him up and brought him inside the house. He was purple and his eyes were open, [but] he was already dead.”

The mother said she last saw the boy around 5 p.m., when she came into her apartment to fetch water before going out to play again. The paramedics found Fernando unconscious and failed to revive him. The boy was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
