Ana Ester Segovia, a 31-year-old woman, was arrested in the city of Houston last Sunday night after she locked herself up with her three daughters inside her burning car.

According to People, the chilling events occurred at a car wash under the gaze of more than 20 people who were at the scene.

Case documents obtained by the publication would add that while inside the car, Segovia accelerated the engine to bring it to the flames, then blocked the car's stalls to prevent her daughters, whose ages have not been revealed, from escaping.

One of the witnesses to the terrible scene was Gerardo Cortez, owner of the establishment where the events occurred, and in conversation with the local chain KHOU revealed details of what happened.

“The older girl tried to escape, but her mother kept her in the car. In a second attempt, the girl was able to escape and helped her little sisters to get out too, "said Cortez, who also added that Segovia evidently" did not want to let her daughters get out of the car."

The woman then allegedly attempted to flee with her daughters, but at that precise moment the police arrived at the scene and made the arrest. None of Segovia's daughters reportedly suffered substantial injuries as a result of the event.

The terrifying scenes lived in the car wash were captured by security cameras and will be fundamental evidence of the case against the mother, who faces charges of aggravated assault against a relative.
