A 42-year-old woman has become a hero on social media after a video went viral of when she prevents a gang of kidnappers from entering her home.

According to News 24, the woman whose name has been kept anonymous said that she did not feel like a hero, rather she just did what she thought best to protect her teenage daughter who was with her in the car.

The woman told the news portal that she feared for the safety of her family and that the men would return to her home.

In the video you can see how the kidnappers enter the garage of her house just when she enters and try to open the car doors for her. At the first carelessness of the men, the brave woman pushes the accelerator in reverse and pushes her Jeep out to corner them leaving them with no choice but to flee.

The woman was left with a swollen and badly injured arm after the incident, which occurred on the afternoon of Monday, August 27.

"My nine-month-old grandson would have been in the car with us, if it hadn't been for a change of plans," he told News24, with tears in his eyes.

The images from the security camera were widely distributed on social media. Many people hailed her as a hero, while others criticized her feat.

A police investigation found that the group of men had followed her home from the local mall on Monday morning. Unbeknownst to her, she was followed to three separate locations.

"I was ready to open the trunk of my car, when I saw the white car behind us," the woman told News 24 in an informal interview. "I said to my daughter, 'Don't go out, close the door.' When I saw that the men were approaching us and I saw their pistols, I said: 'here comes the problem' ".

The woman says she pressed the panic button and waited for help to come, while doing her best to keep her 16-year-old daughter calm. "Those seconds seemed like an eternity," he said.

"I remember seeing them running down the street."
