María Larios, an 80-year-old partially blind woman, was traveling from El Salvador to the state of North Carolina to visit her daughter, who would have delicate brain surgery, but due to a mistake by United Airlines, the octogenarian ended up in the city from Denver, Colorado, thousands of miles from your actual destination.

As reported by a report shared by People magazine on its online site, the airline had initially attempted to compensate Grandma for the mistake with a ticket so she could eat something.

"How is it possible for a woman to board a plane for which she did not have a ticket and is now in another state?" Revealed Mikki Paradis, a member of the Larios family. "They lost a person and at all times treated the situation as if we had lost a suitcase," she added angrily.

The old woman's family also assured that they had requested special assistance from the airline so that she could safely reach her final destination. “She cannot read or write in her own language. Does not speak English. So when you give her a boarding ticket she trusts that you give her the right one,”added Paradis.

After Larios' situation was made public, United Airlines apologized for the situation, taking the woman to her initial destination, returning the value of the ticket and also giving her a travel certificate.

“Our customer service team is in touch with the family to make sure everything is okay. We are investigating the incident internally to understand what happened and thus prevent it from happening again, the airline said about the situation in a statement.
