A 21-year-old college student went to a party with friends in South Carolina and never returned home. Samantha Josephson asked for an Uber around 2:00 am on Friday as she said goodbye to the friends she had dated that night in the city of Colombia. After getting into the black Chevy Impala car that she saw on her way thinking it was the Uber she had asked for, the young woman was kidnapped and killed. Her body was found 14 hours later by hunters in a wooded area several miles from where she was last seen.

Columbia Police Commander Skip Holbrook reported at a press conference that security cameras showed the student getting into the car. "We think she just got in the wrong way by mistaking that private car for the one she had asked for for Uber," Holbook said. The next day the young woman's friends called the authorities to report her as missing. When the hunters informed the authorities about the corpse they had found, they quickly realized that it resembled that of the student they were looking for.

The Columbia Police Department reported that they arrested Nathaniel David Rowland, 24, who faces charges of kidnapping and murder. The man was detained the following night in the same bar area where Samantha was last seen. After arresting Rowland, police found blood stains on the suspect's car and traces of Samantha's DNA as well as the young woman's cell phone. Rest in peace.
