US President Donald Trump has confirmed his candidacy for reelection as President of the United States in 2020.
The president has turned to a veteran of the 2016 election - known as the "secret weapon" - to oversee his campaign as boss for the upcoming ones and has chosen former digital director Brad Parscale for his previously successful effort to help him reach a surprising victory that took him to the White House, according to NBC.
The Trump-Pence campaign said Parscale and the rest of the campaign, in addition to building infrastructure for the 2020 re-election, will also be involved in assisting Republican candidates in the 2018 midterm elections.
"Brad is an incredible talent and he was instrumental in our success in 2016. He has complete trust in our family and is the perfect person to be at the forefront of the campaign," said Eric Trump in a statement.
Trump's moves for 2020 come after he was rejected in a daily follow-up poll and because his proposals for changes to gun laws and regulations are already having obstacles.
"Advanced planning for the 2020 race begins," Trump's re-election campaign said in announcing the decision.
After the election, he helped launch America First Policies, which promotes Trump and his agenda from outside the White House.
According to a statement issued by the Trump campaign, “In addition to focusing on building its infrastructure for the 2020 race, the Trump Campaign will participate in the 2018 midterm elections this year, providing candidates with general support, endorsement and convening to the support of the political bases by involving Trump supporters in the districts and states."
