The update that we hoped would never happen is here. The end to Instagram's chronological feed just went into effect.

The feed change is set out to enhance the app's experience for users. “We brought this new way of ordering posts to a portion of the community, and we found that people are liking photos more, commenting more and generally engaging with the community in a more active way,” said Instagram on their website.
The update sorts posts based on your interests, your relationships, and the timeliness of the post.
“On average, people miss 70 percent of their feeds. It's become harder to keep up with all the photos and videos people share as Instagram has grown,”said the company.
Some accounts may take longer than others to have the new feed experience but eventually all accounts will be updated.
