Jose Luis Rodriguez Recovers At Home

After suffering from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, José Luis Rodríguez had to undergo a double lung transplant last December at the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. Despite the delicate state of his health, the singer is now recovering satisfactorily at home.

"Today we celebrate the life of my dear José Luis Rodríguez," wrote Ricardo Montaner on his Twitter account. "The Puma has already returned home with a long list of things to do."

The Puma publicly revealed his condition in September 2014; however, this condition had been diagnosed since 2000. As it was a degenerative disease with no cure, the damaged organs had to be replaced, for which the interpreter of “Guilty I am” confessed last year that he was waiting for a donor to undergo the delicate surgery.

Before the intervention, where five doctors participated, El Puma announced that for a year it tried to stop the disease by undergoing stem cell treatment that did not have the expected results. In addition, he had to wear a respirator attached to an oxygen tank in order to bring air to his damaged lungs.

"José Luis is infinitely grateful for their love, support and good wishes, as well as understanding this process, as something discreet and very personal," Carolina and Génesis Rodríguez, wife and daughter of the singer, said in a statement after the surgery..
