Trump Calls Senator Pocahontas

Donald Trump on Monday referred to Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren as Pocahontas during an official activity with three Native American veterans of World War II.

Trump's comment comes amid an activity honoring a group of Navajo tribe members who served on the Pacific front, where their ability to speak a minority language made them serve as the best operators in radio to outwit the Japanese.

“You were here long before we were here. However, we have a representative in Congress who says she was here a long time ago, they call her Pocahontas. But you know what, I like you, because you are special people. You guys are amazing,”Trump said, under the stunned gaze of the elders, who made no comment.

In addition, an immediate expression or reaction was not heard from those who were in the act of recognition of veterans for their military service.

It is not the first time that Trump uses that name to refer to the Democratic senator, who was accused of inventing that he had indigenous ancestry in an application at Harvard University, of which he was a professor. Warren maintains that she was sincere, but has provided no evidence to substantiate her claim.

Following the president's words, the senator regretted in an interview with MSNBC that the president used "racist insults" in an act to honor war heroes.

Likewise, the National Congregation of American Indians repudiated Trump's words.
