The Border Patrol arrested a dreamer who had been deported to Mexico in February on Monday, and so he tried to return to the United States again.
According to EFE, the authorities announced that the immigrant Juan Manuel Montes, 23, was discovered near Calexico while trying to enter the United States illegally. After running almost 200 meters, he stopped to rest for a few moments and, realizing that border agents had detected him and were approaching him, he tried to flee, but was quickly caught.
"Our agents arrested Mr. Montes trying to enter the United States illegally for the second time this year," said David Kim, deputy chief of the Border Patrol in the El Centro sector.
According to his lawyers, Montes was the first beneficiary of Deferred Action (DACA) deported during the government of President Donald Trump.
In April, the young man, who suffers from a cognitive disability, filed a lawsuit against the federal government, arguing that he was expelled from the country despite being a DACA beneficiary and, therefore, was legally in this country.
The government defended itself by saying that Montes left the United States voluntarily, causing him to lose his protection status. However, at all times he has maintained that his was a wrong deportation.
The young man also argues that on February 17 of this year he was interrogated by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents while walking on a street in Calexico, and because he did not carry identification, he was deported.
Days after his first deportation, the boy tried to re-enter the country but was detained and deported again, this last time being the second time he has attempted to return to the United States since his deportation.
