After the success of other series on the life of Pablo Escobar Gaviria, his son, Juan Pablo, has just presented a documentary film in which he tells his own version at the MIPCOM audiovisual fair in Cannes.

Entitled Escobar Exposed, it was described by the only son of the former drug lord as the project in which he first lost "the fear of speaking." Likewise, she assures that her version of the events is not an apology for the crimes of her father, nor an attempt to clean up her image. On the contrary: "I'm probably dirtying it more because I'm telling even worse stories than what is known"

One of those unknown stories, he says, is that his father was not killed in a police fence, but that he killed himself. He also relies mainly on his testimony, that of his mother, "Tata", and with images from his family files never released until now.

The eldest son of the head of the Medellín Cartel, explained to EFE that he waited until now to tell these unpublished stories, because before his life was in danger if he did: "It is an undeniable reality that many of my father's enemies have ended up murdering each other and this has left me a little more room to talk about things that I was clearly threatened with not being able to reveal."

Also Escobar, who for security reasons at one time adopted the name Juan Sebastián Marroquín, criticized other series that have made versions of his father's life, such as the Netflix series Narcos: “He has added a 'glamor' that does not have. Pablo Escobar's criminal activity has been glorified. I am not opposed to stories being told, but I am opposed to doing it with such a sense of irresponsibility,”he said.
