On their social networks, no sign of Shakira. Gerard Piqué only publishes things about his team, Barcelona, and now his city, the same to which his football club belongs. Hence the rumors of a possible separation are increasingly intense.

Now what concerns Piqué is his adored Catalonia. This Sunday, October 1, Barcelona is holding a referendum to find out if its citizens want to remain Spanish or become independent from the central state.

These elections, illegal from the constitutional point of view according to the President of Spain, Mariano Rajoy are causing chaos in the soccer player's province.

Police and Civil Guard bodies avoid this illegal and undemocratic celebration at all costs by following government orders. To do this, they are closing schools, where citizens supposedly vote, requisitioning votes, removing the containers where they are kept and attacking those who do not respect 'the law'.

The confrontation between voters and police forces has already raised the number of wounded to more than 300, two of them in serious condition, according to the Spanish newspaper El País. The fact that some want to vote and exercise their right and others prevent it is what is leading to the use of force and violence that continues to score injuries.

The footballer went to the polls to exercise his right to vote this morning and proudly published it on the networks. "Together we are unstoppable, defending democracy," he has written.

The athlete made it very clear a few weeks ago his support for this referendum and the freedom of the Catalans to vote whether they want Catalonia to leave Spain or not. The lack of dialogue between the central and Barcelona governments has caused even more chaos today that promises not to end well.

Election day continues, for one side, that of the government, without weight or meaning; for others, Barcelona, with an importance that will change history.
